Johannes Daume (Auto Kurz GmbH) LTM 1070-4.2 Liebherr-Herstellerwerk in Ehingen.
Auto Kurz GmbH has taken delivery of a new LTM 1070-4.2 mobile crane from Liebherr. It replaces a five-year-old LTM 1090-4.2 in the crane fleet of the company from North Hesse. The Liebherr 70-tonner is a proven crane with innovative mobile crane technology. The renowned Liebherr service, quality, and value retention were important criteria in the decision. The 70-tonner closes the gap between loader cranes and mobile cranes in the 90-100-tonne class. Liebherr has continuously updated the LTM 1070-4.2 to the latest mobile crane technology. Managing Director Johannes Daume explains the decision to purchase the new LTM 1070-4.2: "A 70-tonner fits very well into our portfolio, as it closes the gap between our large loader cranes and our mobile cranes in the 90-120-tonnne class. The LTM 1070-4.2 is a mature product and enjoys a very good reputation. The well-known ease of operation and innovative technology such as VarioBase® round off the crane."
Proven crane with innovative technology
The Liebherr 70-tonne crane with a 50-meter telescopic boom has been proving its worth on construction sites around the world for around two decades. Liebherr has continually updated the 4-axle mobile crane to the latest state of crane technology. The variable support VarioBase® offers higher performance and more safety, especially in confined spaces. With ECOmode and ECOdrive, it is particularly economical to use. The LTM 1070-4.2 is now supplied with the new ZF TraXon DynamicPerform transmission with an oil-cooled clutch module for wear-free starting and maneuvering. With the quick-change system for the ballast, the crane can be quickly converted to different axle load variants. With 3.8 tonnes of ballast, the LTM 1070-4.2 has a total weight of 40 tonnes and an axle load of 10 tonnes. With an axle load of 12 tonnes, it carries 10.7 tonnes of counterweight and can therefore perform a large number of its tasks without additional ballast transport.
The LTM 1070-4.2 features the very latest technology. ECOmode and ECOdrive reduce both fuel consumption and noise. The time-tested TELEMATIK single-cylinder telescoping system ensures that the telescopic boom can be extended to the required length easily and automatically. And the active, speed-dependent rear-axle steering enables the crane to drive off-road and makes it highly maneuverable. The 4-axle crane can also carry the majority of its ballast on the road. This means that it is immediately ready for use once it reaches the site. The smallest of Liebherr's 4-axle cranes is packed full of potential.
Auto Kurz will use the new 70-tonner for a wide range of applications, with one of the main areas of use being the laying of precast concrete parts. In addition to six loader cranes and the LTM 1070-4.2, Auto Kurz operates two other mobile cranes, both also from Liebherr. "We have been working with Liebherr on a basis of trust for a long time. The service is excellent and we always receive prompt support. The cranes are robust and durable and therefore also very stable in value, which is very valuable in today's fast-moving times," says Daume.
