**LTM 1120-4.2: Transition to LICCON3 Control System**
Liebherr is systematically upgrading its existing crane models to incorporate the advanced LICCON3 control system and a modernized design.
**Key Enhancements:** The LTM 1120-4.2, a 120-tonne, 4-axle crane, now features the innovative TraXon DynamicPerform oil-cooled starting clutch, enhanced driver assistance systems, and preparation for RemoteDrive functionality. This model represents the evolution of the LTM 1120-4.1, maintaining the same performance parameters and lifting capacities while embracing a future-oriented design.
**Introduction of LICCON3 Control System**
With the launch of the third generation of the LICCON control system (Liebherr Computed Control), Liebherr elevates established operational concepts through the integration of new software and programming languages, a faster data bus, expanded memory, and enhanced computing power. Crane operators will find the transition straightforward, as the familiar operating concept ensures consistency and ease of use. Proven hardware, including the mobile operating and display unit BTT, remains in place, while the new large touchscreen display in the superstructure cab enhances user experience through improved functionality and simplified information presentation. Furthermore, LICCON3 cranes come standard with telemetry and fleet management capabilities, allowing crane contractors to access and analyze critical data via the MyLiebherr customer portal.
**Redesign of the Driver’s Cabin and Crane Cab**
Simultaneously with the LICCON3 control system, Liebherr introduces a new driver’s cabin characterized by premium materials and a contemporary design. Key improvements include a multifunction steering wheel, enhanced instruments, and additional comfort features such as a remote key central locking system and a "Coming and Leaving Home" function. A modern automatic heating and air-conditioning system provides optimal comfort, while a sun sensor adjusts heating settings based on sunlight intensity. The crane cab's lighting has been optimized with LED technology, ensuring increased longevity and superior illumination.
**LTM 1120-4.2 – Redefining All-Terrain Crane Standards**
In 2020, Liebherr set a benchmark in the all-terrain crane sector with the introduction of the LTM 1120-4.1, a 120-tonne crane that epitomized maximum performance on four axles. The LTM 1120-4.2 continues this legacy, featuring a 66-metre telescopic boom—the longest ever on a 4-axle mobile crane—capable of achieving impressive lifting capacities, particularly when fully extended. This crane excels in applications such as erecting tower cranes and radio masts, with the ability to reach hook heights of up to 91 metres and radii of up to 64 metres.
The compact design of the LTM 1120-4.2 makes it ideal for environments where larger cranes cannot operate. Liebherr’s innovative VarioBase® and VarioBallast® systems enhance performance, flexibility, and safety on constricted job sites. The VarioBallast® system allows for adjustable ballast radius, facilitating operation in tight spaces while optimizing performance and cost-efficiency.
**Innovations for Enhanced Customer Value**
Beyond the new control system and design, the LTM 1120-4.2 incorporates technical features that enhance efficiency, comfort, and safety. The DynamicPerform clutch module ensures nearly wear-free operation for the modular ZF TraXon gearbox, while new driver assistance systems, including the Blind Spot Information System and Moving Off Information System, significantly improve road safety.
Additionally, the LTM 1120-4.2 is equipped for RemoteDrive functionality, enabling external operation via wireless remote control—an invaluable asset on crowded construction sites. Standard features now include the VarioBase® variable supporting base and options such as a central lubrication system for the chassis and digital tire pressure monitoring, reinforcing Liebherr’s commitment to supporting its customers with reliable and well-maintained cranes in their fleet.
