As the company’s twelfth mobile crane, the LTM 1100-5.3 not only enhances the capabilities of
Richter Kran und Schwerlast GmbH’s Liebherr crane fleet but also marks the introduction of the new LICCON3 control to their operations. The new five-axle crane immediately proved its worth in its first assignment near Halberstadt. “The LTM 1100-5.3 is a modern, innovative crane representing the latest technical generation. As we’re thinking ahead and aiming to position ourselves for the future, it ideally complements our fleet,” says Matthias Richter, owner of the crane and heavy haulage company of the same name. The LTM 1100-5.3 features a powerful 62-meter telescopic boom, making it two meters longer than the next most powerful Liebherr five-axle crane, the LTM 1110-5.2. The crane can carry up to 16.9 tonnes of ballast on public roads with a twelve-tonne axle load. By simply removing the ballast, it can travel with an axle load of just nine tonnes – this makes it economically mobile worldwide and offers significant advantages in terms of approvals and route permits. “For us, the new LTM is an excellent taxi crane. Thanks to its long telescopic boom, low weight, and width of just 2.55 meters, we can use it flexibly.”
The LTM 1100-5.3 is the second Liebherr crane to be equipped with the LICCON3 control. “As the first crane with the new control system, the 100-tonne crane fits perfectly into our fleet,” explains Matthias Richter, whose company is active throughout Europe, from Sweden to Austria, focusing on infrastructure construction sites and network expansion projects.
The new mobile crane was put to work just days after delivery: it was used to assemble a tower crane in Leipzig. After completing this single-day project, it moved on to its next assignment near Halberstadt, replacing electricity pylons belonging to grid provider 50Hertz on behalf of LTB Leitungsbau GmbH. The LTM 1100-5.3 was brought in following preparatory work completed by two loading cranes and a semi-trailer truck, both also from Richter. “We managed the entire project from start to finish. Our customers value the all-round service that we provide as a crane and heavy haulage company. We benefit from Liebherr’s reliable, fast service and approachable customer support, which enables us to ensure that our fleet is always operational,” says Matthias Richter.
A mobile crane that takes the combination of mobility, economy, and performance to a whole new level the LTM 1100-5.3 has a powerful, 62-meter (203 ft) telescopic boom and can carry up to 16.9 tonnes (37,250 lb) of ballast on public roads with an axle load of just 12 tonnes (26,450 lb). The crane is also suitable for economical global mobility as it can travel with an axle load of just 9 tonnes (19,840 lb). This is why we are launching the new LTM 1100-5.3 with the slogan “The master of all roads”. It is the second crane in Liebherr’s mobile crane portfolio to feature the new LICCON3 control system.
1 becomes 2 because of 3 the Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 mobile crane becomes the LTM 1110-5.2. Quite simply because it has 3 new features – the crane control system, the driver's cab, and the gearbox. The 5-axle crane, which was first unveiled at Bauma 2019, features the new driver's cab also unveiled at the trade show in prototype form, Liebherr’s new LICCON3 crane control system, and also the recently announced ZF TraXon DynamicPerform gearbox. The oil-cooled multi-disk clutch on this gearbox is new. It has now undergone intensive testing and is ready for use. This means that the new LTM 1110-5.2 combines existing strengths with pioneering innovations to deliver greater safety and comfort. These new features are combined for the first time with a completely new crane design, which is prepared for telematics and fleet management systems and therefore represents the future of the all-terrain series.
Excellent lifting capacities with a really long telescopic boom. And all combined with high worldwide mobility. These are the main characteristics of the LTM 1110-5.1, which we first unveiled at the Bauma event in 2019. The 5-axle crane has a wide range of different driving states, ensuring significant benefits for driving on roads all over the world. The rear outriggers have a double-stage design and achieve a greater support width than the front ones. This gives the entire support system a trapezoidal shape. The combination of this trapezoidal support and our multi-award-winning VarioBase® variable support base is called VarioBase® Plus.
Richter operates a fleet of Liebherr cranes ranging from three-axle to nine-axle models. The new LTM1100-5.3 closes one of the last gaps in their line-up. “We now have twelve cranes, all sourced from Ehingen. This benefits our crane drivers as well since the standardized controls across the machines make their work easier,” Richter explains with satisfaction.
